How do the micro-elements represent ethnicity in the scene from "Ashes to Ashes"?

Main-
  • Gene- in a black and white suit showing authority
  • only two black people shown in the clip
  • smoking shows relaxed social attitude
  • gene is aggressive in his speech
  • low angle shot of two white men- makes them look powerful
  • gene is shown as being very patriarchal
  • edited in with sound bridges so that the black character can be heard but not seen.
  • Gene Hunt has the most screen time and he is a white man.
  • audience wouldn't notice there were any other ethnicity's other than white
  • representation of ethnicity is a stereotype of the 1980's
conclusion
  • the clip is shown with little other ethnic groups to give a true representation of the 1980's culture
